Some people have criticized (criticized) movie stars for staging extravagant weddings which cost far more than most couples would spend. Critics believe that such weddings could be just as beautiful and memorable if some of the millions of dollars spent were donated to charity instead. Write a letter to the editor of the Hong Kong Post stating your views on this issue and giving reasons for them.

Movie stars are reasonable to spend more on weddings

I am writing to explain my views about some movie stars' weddings. Some people think that their weddings cost far more than most couples would spend. They criticize that the weddings could be just beautiful and memorable if some of the millions of dollars spent were donated to charity. However, I don＊t think that movie stars should be criticized by others.

Firstly, many movie stars can earn far more than most couples do and thus they can afford to spend far more money on their weddings. For example, Jacky Chan (Did he stage any extravagant wedding in HK?So is this example appropriate?) can earn millions of dollars by acting in a movie. A large amount of money is not difficult for him to afford. The financial situation of most movie stars is similar to the rich. Both of them can earn more than most couples do and they are able to spend more on their wedding to make it more beautiful and memorable.Why can＊t they spend more on the wedding to make it perfect if they are able to afford it?

Secondly, the weddings of movie stars are different from most other couples. Many people are interested in the weddings and the weddings of them are focused by the public (The weddings of movie stars are the focuses of the public). Many people such as reporters will attend their weddings. Also, as they have a large number of friends, relatives, working partners and fans, there will be a many people attending their weddings. It can be anticipated that the higher the number of participants, the higher the cost of the weddings will be.Expenses on booking locations for the weddings, foods, drinks and decorations will naturally be much higher than most couples. So, they should not be criticized by others for spending too much on their weddings.

Thirdly, many movie stars such as Andy Lam (Andy Lau?) always donate money to charity. I don＊t think the donation from them is enough (For what?) but they have a will to help needy. If they think the wedding is a big event of their life, I think they prefer saving money in daily necessities to saving money from the wedding. Therefore, we should not force them to donate the money which is spent on their weddings.

I think movie stars have more reasons to spend more on their weddings than most other couples do. Spending money on wedding or donating money to charities is their personal choices, ad therefore they should not be criticized.
